The client had a specific business problem characterized by the following:

• Daily, weekly and monthly hardcopy reports need to be sent to a variety of organizations which are external to the client.
• The current process is to print enough copies of each report for the external organizations that report is to be sent to, then burst the copies and collate the reports that are to be sent to each external location, package the reports for mailing and finally deliver the packages to the mailroom.
• This process is very time consuming, costly and is prone to error.

The client was able to replace the entire process (at no cost) by defining the external recipients of the report packages as users of the BCS Electronic Reporting Product. Each of these users was authorized to view only those reports which they would have received via hardcopy. The new process was implemented in a week.

The client realized the following benefits:

• All of the printing, bursting, collation, packaging and mailing costs were completely eliminated.
• The external users were able to review the information immediately rather than waiting for the hardcopy and mail delivery process to complete (eliminating days of down time).
• The external users were very pleased with the new process.
